Session Moderator Description
The primary responsibilities of a Session Moderator is to introduce/thank the presenters and to facilitate the question period.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Before the Session Begins

Arrive at the room at least 5 minutes prior to the start of the session

Find your speakers and introduce yourself to them. You may need to check with them on name pronunciation, job titles, etc.

Remind them of the importance of keeping their presentation within the time limits and explain the use of the 5 minute, 1 minute, and Times Up warming signs that you will be using.
Session

Welcome everyone to the session, read session title, introduce yourself

Explain each person will have XX minutes for their paper, then reserve at least 15 minutes for questions at the end of the session (not at the end of each presentation)

Remind guests to write their questions down for the Q&A

Introduce each speaker and the title of the paper
Question and Answer Period

Facilitate the Q&A period so that everyone has a voice, and no one person dominates the time

Remind participants to provide succinct questions.
Session Conclusion

Once the Q&A and session time has expired, thank everyone for attending and dismiss the group
